Joe Calley was a decorated WWII hero. Every year he marched in the Memorial Day parade in his hometown that led to the cemetery. There he led a prayer honoring the war dead and then retreated to a dark room at the back of his house, blinds drawn and door shut, spending the rest of the day in seclusion.

Benjamin Calley had been estranged from his father since his college days. For twenty years they have not spoken to each other, yet every Memorial Day, Ben cannot shake the memory of his father's behavior. This year he decides to drive back into his father's life to open the door of seclusion and find the answers to the questions he has about his dad. Yet, Ben was not prepared for what he found out.
